GUIDED TOURS
One of the most captivating aspects of this expedition lies in the opportunity to learn a little more about the science behind it and the different infrastructures that make up this great expedition. To facilitate this, the programme includes a day of guided tours for school groups, providing them with insights into CIIMAR, the Advanced Mobile Lab (EMBL), and the Tara Schooner (Tara Ocean Foundation).
1. CIIMAR
A visit to CIIMAR introduces visitors to diverse research areas in marine and environmental sciences. This tour provides insights into innovative research topics and techniques developed at CIIMAR.
2. Advanced Mobile Lab (AML)
By the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).
During the interactive guided tour to the Advanced Mobile Lab, visitors will be introduced to its advanced mobile services and will have the opportunity to closely observe several mini-experiments conducted using the lab’s equipment.
3. Tara Schooner
By the Tara Ocean Foundation.
A visit to the 36-meter-long Tara Schooner unveils a floating laboratory that has already covered an impressive 500,000 km journey (and it’s not finished yet!). The Tara Schooner operates as the expedition’s main at-sea infrastructure.
