The International Conference on Marine Biotechnology took place on September 12 at CIIMAR, as part of the BlueBio4Future ERAChair project, which aims to expand CIIMAR’s knowledge in bioengineering.
The conference highlighted CIIMAR’s research developed by BlueBio4Future synthetic biologists, bioinformaticians, chemists, and experts in bioprocesses, and included plenary lectures delivered by Tobias Gulder (Technical University of Dresden, Germany), Avena Ross (Queen’s University, Canada), Maria Barbosa (Wageningen University & Research, Netherlands) and Eric Helfrich (Goethe University Frankfurt and LOEWE Center for Translational Biodiversity Genomics, Germany).
The inaugural session kicked off with a speech by CIIMAR’s President of the Board, Professor Vitor Vasconcelos and was also attended by the Portuguese Minister of the Economy and Maritime Affairs, António Costa e Silva.
