CIIMAR has two projects recognized as Ocean Decade Actions (The Science We Need for the Ocean We Want). The UNESCO Ocean Expert Chair and CIIMAR at School were recently endorsed as projects that form part of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development 2021-2030.
This recognition was helped by the encouragement and support given to the candidacy of the National Committee for the Decade of the Ocean and the Portuguese Committee for the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (CP-COI).
The projects have already been recognized on the Decade of the Ocean website (oceandecade.org) and included in the Decade of the Ocean’s communication materials and social networks.
