CIIMAR Celebrates 25 Years with a Roaring Twenties Gala Night

CIIMAR kicked off its 25th-anniversary celebrations with a memorable evening, where the spirit of the Roaring Twenties set the stage for its annual gala dinner. Held on March 1st, the event not only celebrated the institution’s journey over the past quarter-century but also highlighted its achievements from the past year.

One of the evening’s highlights was the presentation of the Nautilus Awards, recognizing excellence and merit within the CIIMAR scientific community:

Recognizing the human impact behind the institution’s success, the Blue Community Award was presented to Pedro Leão. Created by CIIMAR’s Equity Committee, this award honors a member whose dedication, talent, and collaborative spirit inspire the community and contribute to its collective growth.

Art and science also took center stage with the announcement of the winners of CIIMAR’s 4th Scientific Photography Contest:

Agnès Marhadour, Isabel Regal, and Sofia Gonçalves were honored for their invaluable contributions, leaving a lasting mark on the institution over the past 15 years.

Before the anniversary cake and the opening of the dance floor, the teaser for the documentary series “25 Tons de Azul” was unveiled. Set to be released throughout the year, the series will explore CIIMAR’s key research areas and the impact of its work on both national and international scientific landscapes.
