Daniela Resende, a PhD student at CIIMAR, was one of the 3 finalists of the AE2023 Student Spotlight Award, with the work Dietary inclusion of sardine cooking waters: impact on appetite regulation, growth and sensory properties of European seabass, which also involves CIIMAR researchers Cristina Velasco, Tiago Sá and Luísa Valente.
The aim of the work was to use aromas extracted from the cooking water of sardines, a waste product of the canning industry, as attractants in diets for farmed seabass.
The young researcher’s work was selected from around 130 papers submitted by students to the Aquaculture Europe 2023 conference, organized by the European Aquaculture Society, which was held in Vienna, Austria, between September 18 and 21, 2023.
