CIIMAR researchers Verónica Nogueira and Rafaela Santos were selected by the University of Porto’s BIP Proof program.
The BIP PROOF program aims to support the development of proof of concept projects at the University of Porto that seek to enhance the socioeconomic value of promising research results.
In this edition, 35 applications were submitted, of which only 6 were awarded a grant of 10,000 euros (per project), corresponding to an approval rate of 17%. Among these awarded projects, the two projects submitted by CIIMAR were selected, resulting in a 100% approval rate.
The “AQUABAKILLUS” project, led by researcher Rafaela Santos, focuses on Bacillus spp. as a source of bioactive compounds for aquaculture bacterial disease control. The “ECOlive” project, led by researcher Verónica Nogueira, aims to develop an eco-strategy for the sustainable valorisation and treatment of olive mill wastewater.
The BIP PROOF program is funded by the Fundação Amadeu Dias and Santander Universidades and represents another important step in promoting innovation and research valorization at the University of Porto.
