CIIMAR’s Blue Young Talent program opens its 12th Editions

Applications are open until May 20, 2025.

Applications are now open for the 12th edition of the Blue Young Talent (BYT) program and the seventh edition of the BYTplus program. The scientific scholarship program is an initiative of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR) aimed at students in the field of marine and environmental sciences and biotechnologies.

From April 7 to May 20, undergraduate and master’s students can apply for the opportunity to work as part of CIIMAR’s research teams, benefiting from a monthly stipend for the duration of the program. As usual, the program is divided into two versions: an undergraduate version – the BYT program – for final year undergraduate students at U.Porto, as well as a postgraduate version – the BYTplus – aimed at the best 1st cycle students who are attending the first year of a master’s degree course at a Portuguese university and wish to do their dissertation at CIIMAR.

The selected students will have access to CIIMAR’s facilities and resources in areas such as research, innovation, technology transfer, training and education, as well as a complementary network of technological platforms. They will also be integrated into a pre- or post-graduate enrichment program, with the aim of promoting excellence, the scientific communication and dissemination of their work, entrepreneurship and integration into the job market.

As in previous editions, the students taking part in the program will benefit from scholarships funded by Soja Portugal and the Amadeu Dias Foundation, with a corresponding duration for the duration of the program (BYT or BYTplus).

The BYT programs culminate in the public presentation of the projects developed by the young talents, with the best being awarded the BYT and BYTplus prize.

Applications are open until May 20, 2025. Those interested should complete and submit the application forms available on the BYT website.
