This year, the much anticipated CIIMAR Open Day will be celebrated on September 22, in parallel with the Day of Porto de Leixões.
On September 22, 2024, science will leave CIIMAR’s laboratories and take over the corridors of the Porto Cruise Terminal building, transforming every space into a scene of curiosity and inspiration.
With a variety of scientific and recreational activities focused on the aquatic environment, CIIMAR researchers will have the opportunity to share their experiences, their enthusiasm and their knowledge about this environment with the general population.
On this day, participants will be able to closely follow the work carried out by CIIMAR researchers, take part in scientific experiments, collect stamps to add to the explorer’s passport, observe organisms under a microscope, explore coastal biodiversity aquariums and intertidal zones, and learn about CIIMAR’s mini phyto-ETAR and integrated multi-trophic aquaculture model.
At 2:30 PM, an “Ocean Trivia” will take place in the Auditorium on Floor 3, to test the public’s knowledge of the marine environment, rewarding the true explorers and guardians of the ocean. Teams (4 people recommended per team) will compete for a prize that includes a €20 FNAC voucher, a guided tour of CIIMAR, and 4 tickets to SeaLife Porto.
