Oceanus Seminar Series | 26 June | 11h30 | Nuno A. Cruz
Title: Marine Robotics: Challenges and Opportunities in Marine Biology
This talk will discuss recent advancements in marine robotics and their adaptation to new challenges across various communities. Scientists seek more data, increased sampling frequencies, automated processes, and improved data quality. The industry aims for robotic tools to enhance efficiency and safety, reduce costs, and replace operators. The robotics community focuses on extending data collection capabilities in space, time, and resolution through autonomous platforms.
The Center for Robotics and Autonomous Systems at INESC TEC in Porto, Portugal, is involved in numerous R&D projects, developing advanced sea technology. The Center, comprising specialists in marine robotics, has led many international projects and developed integrated solutions combining custom and partner-developed subsystems. The talk will showcase these subsystems and their implementation in various projects.
