Environmental research in water and wastewater management

The presentation provides a description of the research potential of the Institute of Environmental Engineering at UPWr, along with a list of available laboratory equipment and experimental installations. It also presents a summary of the research conducted by the presenters and their collaborators, as well as areas of interest for future research projects.

Aleksandra Bawiec, PhD

Research scientist and academic teacher. Her main research area is urban water and wastewater treatment with the use of semi-natural technologies and Nature Based Solutions (NBS) as well as treatment of wastewater with specific composition, including floating islands for urban water purification, hydroponic wastewater treatment and treatment of wastewater with high ammonium concentration.

Katarzyna Pawęska, Assoc. Prof. Dr.

Research scientist and academic teacher. Her scientific interests include wastewater treatment in natural and semi-natural systems; Nature Based Solution including Constructed Wetlands, hydroponics systems and artificial floating islands; wastewater treatment with difficult physicochemical composition; quality of urban waters and it’s revitalization methods.
