Cristina Velasco is a researcher of CIIMAR and invited assistant professor at University of Porto with a PhD in Marine Sciences, Technology and Management, obtained in 2018 in the group Physiology of fish the University of Vigo. Her main research interest is the fundamental biological aspects of the metabolic and endocrine regulation of feed intake in fish, specialized in the nutrient sensing mechanisms, energy sensors and intracellular mechanisms. She is currently working on the integration of fundamental biology knowledge with applied research to fully valorise agro-food by-products as feed ingredients for farmed fish.
