My name is Pedro Lombe, and I am a PhD student at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. I completed my Integrated Master’s in Geophysics in 2020 at the North Caucasus Federal University, Russia, where I conducted research on the analysis, processing, and interpretation of seismic data in the Caucasus region.
Currently, my PhD research focuses on developing a drought monitoring and forecasting system for southern Angola. This tool aims to shift from reactive to proactive measures, enabling early predictions and helping mitigate the impacts of droughts. My work aligns with the application of Machine Learning and remote sensing in climate risk management and climate change adaptation in vulnerable regions.
Throughout my academic and scientific journey, I have participated in research projects focused on environmental sustainability and technological innovation, developing solutions to improve water management and climate adaptation in areas susceptible to extreme climate variability. Additionally, I have published scientific articles in first-quartile indexed journals (Scopus) and participated in national and international conferences, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of water resources and climate change.
