Title: Feeds supplemented with an algae blend exert immunomodulatory effects on European seabass upon infection with Tenacibaculum maritimum
ntensification of aquaculture practices often leads to a rise in disease outbreaks. Nutritional approaches are promising solutions to alleviate diseases in farmed fish, with algae being valuable sources of bioactive compounds with immunomodulatory effects. We aimed to unravel the potential of a micro- and macroalgae blend as modulator of European seabass systemic and mucosal immune responses, upon infection with Tenacibaculum maritimum, a threatening pathogen affecting seabass production.
Name: Mariana Ferreira
Mariana Ferreira completed her Bachelor in Biochemistry in 2016 from University of Porto (FCUP), and her Master’s degree in Microbiology in 2018 from University of Lisbon (IST). She is currently a 4th year PhD student of the Doctoral Programme in Animal Science at ICBAS. She has been developing her work at CIIMAR and Nord University (Bodø, Norway), focused on the impact of diets with micro- and macroalgae on the gut microbiota, intestinal morphology, and immune responses of European seabass.
The seminar will take place at CIIMAR headquarters (Boca da Baleia Auditorium ).
