The research vessel Mário Ruivo departed Funchal for the first campaign of the Marine Protected Ocean Areas Project, with the participation of researcher Cláudia Rodrigues from CIIMAR.
Yesterday, at 7 p.m., the research vessel Mário Ruivo departed Funchal for another phase of the first campaign of the Marine Protected Ocean Areas Project, with the participation of researcher Cláudia Rodrigues from CIIMAR. The team of researchers also involved the national research centers CCMAR, CESAM and MARE.
This campaign, financed to the tune of 2.5 million euros by the Blue Fund, focuses on the marine sub-region of Madeira, specifically the Madeira-Tore Geological Complex (CMT), and aims to support the creation of the National Network of Marine Protected Areas.
Some of the regional authorities collaborating on the project were also present at the start, namely the Regional Directorate for Fisheries and the Regional Directorate for the Sea, the Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology and Innovation – ARDITI, the Madeira Ports Administration – APRAM and the Municipal Museum of Natural History, who visited the ship.
