TwinnDEEPS is now among the projects endorsed by the OceanDecade contributing for challenge 7# Sustainably expand the Global Ocean Observing System.
After the Call for Decade Actions 2024, TwinDEEPS is now under the Deep Ocean Observing Strategy (DOOS) program.
TwinDEEPS will contribute mostly to Challenge #7 but also to Challenge #9 Skills, knowledge, technology and participation for all and #10 Restore society’s relationship with the ocean.
This endorsement of the project by the Decade of Oceans means that TwinDEEPS project will be part of and contribute to a truly global community of actions that contribute to the Decade’s vision and mission of doing “The science we need, for the ocean we want”.
TwinDEEPS is a TWINNING project under Horizon Europe, which seeks to elevate CIIMAR’s research profile to become a leading center in the field of deep-sea exploration and observation. This goal will be achieved through collaboration with European partners such as the Institute of Marine Research (IMR, Norway), the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ, Netherlands), and the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI, Germany).
