UNIT 8 - Toxicity Testing

This chapter explains toxicity test design for acute, short-term and chronic toxicity. In the sections below is described the importance of toxicity tests for improving risk assessment. Similarly, some topics of ecosystem biomonitoring studies are discussed, including model organisms and indicator species as well as biomarkers. Also, a description of how to integrate and interpret the results of toxicity tests in order to make possible comparisons between different studies is given.
